Pregnancy Chiropractic Care — Gentle Support Through Every Trimester
As a pregnancy chiropractor Brisbane mums recommend, we understand pregnancy changes the way your body moves, carries weight and balances — and for many women that brings new aches, tension and discomfort. At Cannon Hill Family Chiropractic, we use the Neuro Impulse Protocol (NIP) — a low force, no-cracking, no-twisting approach — to support your body’s changing needs through each trimester, gently and comfortably.
Gentle Pressure, No Awkward Positions
The pressure used in NIP corrections is genuinely light — similar to the amount you’d use to check if a tomato or avocado is ripe. And you don’t need to lie face-down on your stomach. Corrections can be made seated or standing, whatever’s most comfortable for you as your body changes.
Still not sure? Here’s what we hear most often:
✓ “Will you crack me?” — No. We don’t do that with anyone, pregnant or not.
✓ “Do you have real experience with this?” — Yes. 20 years in practice, and taught at the NIP international symposium focused specifically on pregnancy care.
✓ “Do I have to lie on my stomach?” — No. Corrections can be made seated or standing, whatever’s most comfortable for you.
✓“What’s the actual goal of coming in?” — To help you stay as comfortable and mobile as possible through your pregnancy. Have a question or a specific concern? Come in and say hi.
An Honest Goal — Comfortable, Not "Pain-Free"
We won’t promise a totally pain-free pregnancy — that’s not realistic for anyone. What we aim for is helping you stay as comfortable and mobile as possible, whether that’s being able to exercise, chase after your other kids, or simply move more freely day to day. Many patients notice a change in movement and strength quickly, though every pregnancy and every body responds differently.
Some Extra Experience That Counts
Dr Patrick McPhie (Chiropractor) has over 20 years in practice, including extensive experience caring for pregnant patients. As a member of the NIP international teaching team, he was one of two lead presenters at the most recent NIP symposium in Croatia, which focused specifically on care of the pregnant patient.
Working Alongside Your Midwife or Obstetrician
Pregnancy involves many changes, and we see chiropractic care as one part of your broader care team. We’re always glad to liaise with your midwife or obstetrician as part of your pregnancy journey.
Who We Commonly See
We work with pregnant patients experiencing:
- Low back pain
- Hip and gluteal pain
- Sciatic-type pain
- Mid back pain
- Upper back and neck pain
- Pubic pain
- Reduced mobility
We also see plenty of proactive patients who aren’t in pain at all — simply wanting to maintain comfort and mobility as their pregnancy progresses.
Care for After Your Baby Arrives
Care after birth is about you and your baby. Many mums find ongoing support helpful for their own recovery too, and we’re happy to talk through what that might look like for you.
Looking for an experienced chiropractor for your newborn or child once they arrive? Dr Pat McPhie has extensive experience working with children — in fact, NIP was originally developed with newborns in mind. He has also worked closely with NIP founder Dr Neil Davies, author of Chiropractic Pediatrics: A Clinical Handbook. Learn more about our care for newborns and children.
