Your First Visit
Thorough. Gentle. No cracking.
Looking for a gentle, no-cracking chiropractor? We use the Neuro Impulse Protocol (NIP) — precise, low force, and many patients notice changes in movement and strength from each visit.
Not sure if chiropractic is right for you? We’ll find out together — it’s the only way.
At Cannon Hill Family Chiropractic Centre, your first visit is built around one thing: understanding exactly what’s going on in your body so we can give you a straight answer.
We take the time to listen — to what you need help with and what you think might be causing it. If we can help, we want you leaving your first appointment feeling confident you’re in the right place. If we can’t, we’ll tell you honestly and point you in the right direction.
Before You Arrive
No referral required. Simply book online or call us on (07) 3899 8840.
Please arrive 15 minutes before your appointment to complete your paperwork. Allow around 45–60 minutes for your first visit.
Parking is available at the rear of the clinic.
We have HICAPS on site — most private health funds with extras cover can claim on the spot. EFTPOS also available.
If you have questions, write them down before you come in — we want to hear them all. No question is too small.
We go at your pace. There’s no rush.
Still not sure? Here’s what we hear most often:
❌ “I don’t like cracking” — We don’t do that here. NIP is gentle, low force, no twisting.
❌ “I’ve tried chiro before and it didn’t help” — NIP is a different approach. Many of our patients came to us after other things hadn’t worked.
❌ “Will I need to come forever?” — We work visit by visit. Honest timeframes, no lock-in, ever.
❌ “Will I need X-rays?” — We don’t routinely X-ray. Only if it would genuinely change your care.
Your Initial Assessment
Your assessment begins with a conversation. We want to hear about what’s brought you in — in your own words, what you think is causing it, what you’ve already tried, and what you’re hoping to achieve.
We ask a lot of questions. Some may seem unrelated to your main concern — but in the human body, everything is connected. Our questions are designed to build a complete picture of where you are, rule out anything serious, and confirm whether you’re in the right place.
Then we move to the physical examination. We’ll assess your movement, identify positions or actions that reproduce your symptoms, and test joints, muscles, and neurological pathways at different levels of the brain and spinal cord.
We’re looking at two things: what’s happening biomechanically with your joints and muscles, and what’s happening neurologically with the programmes that control your movement, strength, and stability.
By the end of your assessment we’ll have a clear picture — and if we can help, most patients are treated on their very first visit.
Your First Adjustment
If it’s clear we can help, we’ll begin care on your first visit.
NIP is both an assessment and a correction system. The assessment comes first — a precise series of movement and muscle tests designed to identify where corrections need to be made. This is the key. The human body compensates constantly, and what you feel isn’t always what’s causing it. We’re looking for the primary problem driving the whole compensating picture of tightness, restricted movement, and muscle weakness.
Once we find it, we pre-test to confirm we’re in the right place — then we make the correction. Gentle, precise, and low force. Often on tender spots, but never forceful.
We then re-assess immediately so you can see the changes in movement and strength for yourself.
NIP goes well beyond the spine. Most people associate chiropractic with back cracking — NIP is nothing like that. Corrections may be applied to most joints and muscles in the body — your shoulders, hips, jaw, ribcage, diaphragm, cranial bones, or pelvic floor. Wherever the assessment leads us.
The goal is simple: identify the dysfunction, restore the function.
